On 19th December 2003, KONSING and Telekom Serbia signed a contract worth 12.163.000 € (initial value) for the deployment of access network in Serbia. The new network will be built as a combination of Wireless Local Loop access network and wired access network. The network will cover at least 19.000 subscribers, both in urban and rural areas of southwestern Serbia. The deployment of the network will be carried out by a consortium of three companies: KONSING, Alvarion and Telegroup, with each accepting dedicated tasks. KONSING will assume all activities related to design, installation and servicing of the system, both within and after warranty period expiration (first and second level support.). Alvarion will supply and deliver its equipment and related materials and will train and certify Telekom personnel for the installed system and additionally will provide third level support to the nationwide carrier. Telegroup will perform all activities concerning deployment of wired access network. Telekom Srbija's choice of partners was based on Alvarion's references in the world of WLL technology, KONSING's experience in WLL systems and other radio-based telecommunication projects and Telegroup's experience in deployment of classical access networks. Relying on these facts, Telekom Srbija can be sure that the new network will be efficiently and professionally deployed. KONSING signed a contract with Telekom Srbija A.D. for the supply and installation of 16 mini-link hops. For the first time, "all-outdoor" solution for mini-link equipment will be introduced in Telekom's mobile network. The solution is based on the newest technology, developed and manufactured by Ericsson Microwave, Sweden. Once again, joint efforts of Ericsson d.o.o. Belgrade and KONSING have proved successful, and resulted in winning the contract in the field of radio-relay systems. All the efforts of the engineers from Ericsson d.o.o.Belgrade and KONSING were rewarded when the first public call, using the first 3G mobile system installed in Serbia and Montenegro, was successfully made on November 19that the hotel "Intercontintal" in Belgrade during the celebration of the fifth anniversary of Ericsson d.o.o. Combining their experience in mobile telecommunications with the specialized training received on 3G (UMTS) base station design and implementation, engineers from KONSING prepared the projects for implementation of 3G base stations for two sites, one near the "Sava centar" and the other in "Železnik". After approval of the engineering projects from Ericsson d.o.o. Belgrade, joint teams from Ericsson and KONSING installed and commissioned the first 3G base stations, thus marking the beginning of new era in mobile telecommunications in our country. During the ceremony to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Ericsson d.o.o. Belgrade a letter of appreciation was given to KONSING. Mr. Jan Hultgren, President of Ericsson d.o.o. Belgrade, expressed gratitude for all the support that Ericsson d.o.o. received from KONSING during the past five years and added that he was expecting that this cooperation will continue for many more years to come. The winning bid for the Alvarion equipment was submitted by leading Serbian telecommunication engineering company, KONSING. To ensure complete success for the installation and implementation of the Alvarion equipment, Alvarion and KONSING formed a consortium with each accepting dedicated tasks. In that regard Alvarion will supply and deliver its equipment and related materials and will train and certify Telekom personnel for the installed system and additionally will provide third level support to the nationwide carrier. With Alvarion support KONSING will assume all activities related to design, installation and servicing both within and after warranty period expiration (first and second level support). Alvarion is a leader in the world in the development and manufacture of WLL equipment and technology. KONSING has vast experience in WLL systems and other radio-based telecommunication projects throughout the world. Together the consortium will ensure the successful system deployment for Telekom Serbia. Part of the management of KONSING participated in the fourth international Telecommunications Conference 2003, which was held in Portoroz, Slovenia from the 3rd to 4th November. At the conference, new telecommunication solutions and trends were presented emphasizing importance of implementing new technologies for economical and technological development of south-eastern Europe. KONSING, as one of the leaders in telecommunications in Serbia and Montenegro, has already taken part in projects that brought new technologies to the region and will look forward to any new opportunity to improve the technical level of the region. After successful participation of KONSING's engineers at training courses for the installation, commissioning and maintenance of GSM radio base stations RBS2106 and RBS2206, the company won the contract for design, site preparation and installation of 30 radio base stations on 1800 MHz in Telekom Srbija's GSM network. Besides very bad weather conditions (temperature above 35°C) KONSING performed its tasks with a high degree of proficiency completing its work ahead of schedule. KONSING, together with Ericsson d.o.o., Belgrade, took part in public tender for supply and installation of radio link systems, announced by Telekom Serbia. Despite very strong competition (10 bidders), KONSING is chosen by Telekom Serbia as one of three suppliers of radio link systems. Four of KONSING's engineers successfully completed Ericsson sponsored training courses for the installation and commissioning of radio base stations of third generation (RBS 3000 series) equipment. The Company is now ready to face the challenges in the newest technology in mobile communications. At the end of March 2003 KONSING will have four of its engineers attend Ericsson sponsored training courses for the installation, commissioning and maintenance of GSM radio base stations: RBS 2106 and RBS 2206. The training will take place at Ericsson's Training Center in Stockholm. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- back to sublink "News" |
